LIMELITE GLOSSARY

Video production has its own language, and if you’re new to the process, it can feel a little overwhelming. Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered! This glossary breaks down common terms you’ll hear while working with LimeLite, so you can feel confident every step of the way!

LimeLite-Specific:

Credits: The currency of your LimeLite subscription. Use credits for shoots, edits, or both.

Shoots: Filming sessions with our team. We capture everything you need in one or multiple sessions, depending on your plan.

Edits: The process of transforming your RAW footage into a polished, professional video.

Add-Ons: Extras outside of your subscription, such as makeup artist, studio rental, drone videography, etc.

The Production Process:

Pre-Production: The planning stage: scripting, scheduling, shot lists, and logistics.

Production: The actual filming stage (A.K.A. your shoot day!). This is when A-Roll and B-Roll are captured.

Post-Production: Editing, graphics, color correction, audio mixing, and revisions. This is where the magic happens after filming.

Core Filming Terms:

A-Roll: The main footage that tells your story. For example, this is usually interviews, talking heads, or your primary content.

B-Roll: Supplemental footage that adds context and visual interest. Think: product shots, team members working, or office views.

Shot List: A checklist of planned shots that keeps your shoot organized and ensures we capture everything you need.

Script: The written plan of what will be said in your video. Not every project needs one, but for interviews, voiceovers, or explainer videos, we can help you draft it!

AV Script: Short for “Audio-Visual Script”, this is a two-column document used in video production. One column shows what’s happening on screen (the visuals), and the other lists what’s being heard (dialogue, narration, etc.).

Storyboard: A visual outline of your video. This comes in handy for bigger creative projects to map out scenes before filming.

Visual and Technical Terms:

Aspect Ratio: The shape of your video frame. Standard delivery is 16:9, but we can also create vertical (9:16) or square (1:1) for social media!

Resolution: How sharp your video looks. Most LimeLite videos are in HD (1080p).

Frame Rate (FPS): The number of frames captured per second.

Audio and Narration:

Voiceover (VO): Narration recorded off-camera and layered over your visuals.

Lavalier (LAV) Mic: A small, clip-on microphone used in interviews to capture clear, professional audio.

Editing and Delivery:

Rough Cut (V1): The first draft of your video. You’ll review this version and give us your feedback.

Final Cut: The polished, approved version after all revisions are complete.

Color Grading: Adjusting colors, tones, and brightness so your video has a consistent, professional look.

Lower Thirds: On-screen text at the bottom of your video that introduces names, titles, or adds extra context.

Brand Guidelines: A set of rules that define how your brand should look, sound, and feel across all content. They usually cover things like logos, fonts, colors, and tone of voice.

Deliverables: The final files included with your LimeLite subscription.

RAW Footage: Unedited video files captured during our shoot. RAW Footage hasn’t been polished, color-corrected, or cut together.

Social & Platform-Specific:

Thumbnail: The clickable preview image for your video. We’ll provide a strong still frame or help you create a branded one.

SRT File: Captions or on-screen text of what’s being said.

Burned-In Captions: Captions that are permanently embedded into your video file.
